In August we ran a photo voting competition on Facebook for ‘Hair Accessories Made by Mums’. We had some fantastic entries and the winner was Kellie from Mymoo Accessories with this fabulous and fun pink sequined creation.
Here’s a little more about Kellie from Mymoo Accessories…
I am a mum to 2 little girls with my 3rd baby (little boy) due in October and I work part time as a dental nurse. I’ve always dreamed of having my own business but because of my job I always thought it would be something in the dental industry. I never thought it would be hair accessories!
I’ve always been creative and last summer I decided to teach myself to make my own hair accessories. This came about after a shopping trip with my children and all the hair accessories we looked seemed too mature for them, not to mention expensive.
I started making my own and after showing friends and family and receiving good feedback I decided to set up a personal Facebook page so that friends of friends could also have a look at the items I had made.
It was a friend who suggested I set up a business page on Facebook to get noticed. I did this in August and I’m very happy I did as this meant I had the chance to discover the ‘More Than Mummies’ page and gave me the opportunity to enter the ‘hair accessories made by mum’s’ competition that they were running.
I entered a photo of one of the hair accessories I’d created in their voting contest and I won! I never thought I would and winning has now given me so much more confidence. I just want to keep on making more accessories!
I have my children to thank for giving me the idea and inspiration to start making these items so I thought it only fair that I named the business after them. Their names and nick names are Mischa Moo Moo and Myiah My My. So that is where the name Mymoo Accessories comes from!
I am also now interested in making other children’s accessories ranging from bracelets, necklaces and dummy clips which I’m hoping to start very soon and you’ll be able to see what I’m making next on the Mymoo Accessories Facebook page.
My ambitions for the future are to one day to have my own little shop selling all the items that I really love making.

Here’s a little more about Off With Her Head
Off With Her Head is a business born out of a genuine love for vintage fashion and in particular hats!! I’m a self taugh milliner based in Fife, Scotland, a part time nurse and a full time Mum to Kaylee (aged 1). As well as original designs a lot of my work is based on vintage patterns and photographs from many different eras, my favourite is the 40′s/50′s period though! I also undertake commission work on a regular basis. Our childrens range is currently in the design stage as well as work on some vintage crocheted patterns!! We are also planning on branching out into other vintage accessories and homewares too!
