A Little Bit of Inspiration – Motivational Quotes

There are always times when you question what you are doing and whether it’s worthwhile. There are also times when you just need help to regain focus and to remeber why it was you decided to do what you do!

I’ve no doubt the school holidays have brought all sorts of trials and tribulations especially for those of you juggling work or business with childcare so I thought it would be a good time to do a collaborative post with ispiring and motivational words that can easily refered to when you need that extra boost!

I’ve inlcuded 5 that always help me when I’m wondering ‘what am I doing’! The first two I keep in my purse at all times, one was from a calendar that used to sit on my desk when I was a receptionist and the other was from from a fortune cookie! Inspiration can come from anywhere!

Don't be afraid of your dreams

From my old workplace calendar, I've kept this in my purse at all times for the past 3 years!

“Don’t be afraid of the space between your dreams and reality. If you can dream it, you can make it so” – Belva Davis

Failure is only the option to begin again more intelligently

I also carry this one with me which came out of a fortune cookie

“Failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently” Author Unkown

One from a cartoon that has stuck with me from childhood, Jack and the Beanstalk 1974  – “When opportunity knocks open the door…it won’t knock a second time”

(you tube clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSwg61F8YIQ 1min 51secs)

“Don’t forget that everything you deal with is only one thing and nothing else” quote from The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho (fantastic book, one I read over and over again whenever I feel like I’ve lost my way or feeling a little low. A fab quote when everything feels like it’s getting on top of you and you need to gain perspective.)

“You have to believe in yourself when no one else does – that makes you a winner right there.” Venus Williams (one of my sporting heros).

From Rebecca Ward, Enjoy-a-Ball. www.enjoy-a-ball.com :

“I’m always doing things I can’t do. That’s how I get to do them.” Pablo Picasso.

From Sarah Kay:

“Most miss opportunity because it shows up in overalls and looks a lot like work” Benjamin Franklin

From Colleen, Hertfordshire, Sainlo Events – www.sainloevents.co.uk

“Pay no attention to what the critics say… Remember, a statue has never been set up in honor of a critic!” Jean Sibelius, Composer

  1. I was lucky enough to win Small Business Sunday on Twitter run by Theo Paphitis of BBC’s Dragons Den fame. All the winners got to meet him and listen to him speak at Edgebaston in March. Something that he said that has stayed with me, was that if you can’t bore your friends senseless going on about your business then you are in the wrong business!
So when I find myself doing just that, firstly, I laugh to myself and then I apologise to my friends.
